The company 917 Conti LLC announced the beginning of condominium sales at The Residences in the French Quarter.
The building, formerly known as The Musée Conti Wax Museum, closed its doors in 2016.
The building was acquired by 917 Conti LLC, which worked in conjunction with Broadmoor Construction to modernize the structure. According to a news release, the team has “transformed this unique piece of New Orleans history into a modern oasis in the heart of the French Quarter.”
The address was originally home to the all-boys Jefferson School that closed in the 1880s. Then, it was bought by businessman Silvestre Blasini, a Corsican immigrant. It served as a home for his family until it became a coffin factory that caught fire in the 1920s. The building was reconstructed and occupied by American Brewing Company until the 1960s. That’s when it became home to the acclaimed Musée Conti Wax Museum from 1964-2016.
“This special building is an integral part of the fabric of the French Quarter. We are excited and eager for our new residents to add their own life stories and another chapter to the history of 917 Conti,” Jonathan Weber, 917 Conti LLC Partner and member of Weber Development, said in a news release. Weber has developed many condominium units in the region, including the Jax Brewery Complex.
“The Residences are a new standard for luxurious living in the heart of the French Quarter, close enough to the action to enjoy all of the fun, but quiet and spacious with 100-year-old brick walls and big, beautiful windows,” Weber said in the news release.
The Residences at 917 Conti Street combines two different buildings to create 16 distinct condominiums. It has community and private swimming pools, hot tubs, grilling stations and a fitness room. The news release touts that coveted garage parking is also available. The units have Italian porcelain floors, quartz and granite countertops, European style cabinetry, stainless steel appliances and private terraces.
There are a wide variety of one-, two- and three-bedroom residential floor plans (720–2,217 square feet), with prices starting from the mid-$400,000s. The largest penthouse unit has three bedrooms and three bathrooms and its own roof deck, private pool and spa.
Talbot Realty Group is the exclusive listing agent for The Residences.
